The Onion: Tragic Loss of Gas

Why the hell would you post a myspace link, rather than the direct link to the video?

  • Couldn't believe the sheer amount of times people accidentally said gas in that video instead of petrol.

The correct way to say it, in my opinion, is "fuel". Most vehicles run on some sort of fuel, weather it be gasoline or diesel.

The correct way to say it is either "Gasoline" or "Petrolium Spirit"

"Petrol" is no more correct than "Gas" as they are both abbreviations of their less than colloquially friendly counterparts. Meanwhile, fuel will work, but isn't really specific. Charcoal is a type of fuel, and yet, isn't even a liquid.

    /didn't watch the video.
//Just wanted to be argumentative and know-it-all-sy
  • I was implying that the problem wasn't abbreviation in general, but an Americanised abbreviation.

In that case that's just a barmy thing to say. It may behove you to keep such a titbit to yourself. Lest one of us fly over in an aeroplane and beat you with tremendous furvore.

Our language is stupid enough without worrying about regional differences thank you very much.
