looks like a good build but there is one thing i am concern about, your motherboard says crossfire ready but you got 2 nvidia cards in your specs, as far as i know nvidia use sli technology so therefore having 2 nvidia cards on a crossfire ready motherboard would be useless

also even if you have already a large case, unless it has at least 2-3 fans and good air circulation i would recommend getting an new one, the price is actually cheap if you know where to look, i would recommend he antec 300 which is 69$ or the antec 900 which is 99$, i would also recommend later on getting more fans to circulate more air to help your computer to cool off, it helps a lot if you overclock

I second the antec 300 thing. Holy crap is it a wonderful case. I wasn't even aware that a case could be so significantly superior to other cases.

Any particular reason you're leaning towards the 30 GB SSD? I'm guessing that's your OS drive, but is it really that good? Cause for the 135 bucks your spending on storage, I feel like you could get significantly more space without sacrificing speed just by sticking with regular ass hard drives.

But I've never had the luxury of using a computer that was running off of an SSD, so I'm not exactly speaking from experience here.

30GB is simply not enough space. I mean, I don't even think that would fit Windows 7 and borderlands much less the myriad of other games and programs the average person may have on it.

I pooped a little when I started to install SC2 and it had "Requires 12gig of free space."

30gig would be plenty for a SSD only used for your OS though.

man I should have posted before buying everything lol. I am planning on doing only the os on the ssd. But I guess being able to put other stuff on it if it had been bigger would have been a plus.

Windows 7 is a big plus. The antec 900 is shit-ugly though.

you would need only one more 120mm fan for the side panel of the case, unless you order an older version of the 300 or 900, the front, top and rear fans are included with the case

I gotta admit... While W7 *is* growing on me, I still find it pretty gaudy. I'm definitely not finished setting it up the way I like though. I keep getting the feeling that it's just not quite optimized. Like there's always something else running in the background that I don't care about or need or even want eating the proc. up but not appearing in the task manager...

Is that just how much muscle W7 takes to run?

I'm not really sure how much muscle Windows 7 takes to run. My computer is pretty decked out, so Windows 7 is barely a blip on my resources-radar.

Windows 7 is significantly more optimized for the offerings of modern hardware than XP was though. Like I said, I have no idea how it runs on older hardware, but it is nice having an OS that is optimized to run on 64 bit systems with multiple cores. XP, being so atrociously old, had no such benefits in design.

I, too, used to be really concerned about what was running in the background and such. It isn't a bad concern to have. I've come to realize, however, that if I really wanted massive control over that sort of thing, I'd run ubuntu (well, I run that anyway, but that's a different issue). Simply relying on a grossly outdated and insecure-by-design operating system that becomes more and more of a bottleneck on modern hardware simply because I'm used to it is just no longer a viable option for me.

Windows 7 is not at all my favorite operating system, but it is by far my favorite Windows.

I kind of feel the same as Andrew on the background tasks thing, but Windows 7 in general has been a godsend for me. So much easier and more stable then Vista (although I only had Vista for the 2 months between buying the computer and 7 being released). It's rare for me to find something that seems to run slow. How much RAM is everyone running 7 64 bit with? I've only got 6 gigs in right now, with the intention to upgrade to 12 when I get a chance.

Windows 7 is a significantly larger OS than XP, no doubt.

I'm running 8GB, and I have never really come close to using it all up. At the moment, with a web server and all of my development programs running, I'm using 30% of my physical memory. If the most memory intensive thing you do on your computer is game, I don't think you would need more than 6GB, but hey... if you have the money and want to go for, then by all means!

The hardware bottleneck of XP is pretty darn unacceptable. And RAM is cheap.

Win7 is installed on the ssd and the normal hdd is also connected. In my devices I can see the normal hdd but in my computer it does not show up. So all I have now is a fast pc with only 14gb free space =).

Buy a bigger HD.
