RIO DE JANEIRO - Rio's state government will build seven miles (11 kilometers) of concrete walls around some of the biggest slums in an effort to halt deforestation of the jungle surrounding the metropolis, officials said Tuesday.

    Right.....

I went to Rio two falls ago and let me tell you, those slums are terrible. There might be a legitamate issue with the environment, but I doubt thats the only motive behind this. Brazil's government is very corrupt and the middle class is very small there. It is pretty messed up...You fly into Rios airport and you drive by some of the slums. You go through a tunnel(a hill) and when you come out the other side..Oh look! theres Rio!

...They give tours of the slums.

I wouldn't deny that there is a legitimate and logical complaint that an expansion of slums and slum populations lead to more deforestation.

/But this shit definitely reminds me of District 13.

I think that the amount of rights you have should be based on your income.

This is a valid and appropriate way to dole out rights. We have far too many rights in the hands of far too irresponsible people. If you want the right to drink, prove you can drink responsibly while holding down a job! If you want the right to drive a car, prove that you can afford maintenance on that car for the duration of your ownership! If you want the right to vote, prove that you have something worth protecting with government money, because otherwise you are a leech. Vermin that must be exterminated for our society to thrive.
